Turbulence
Project type
Silver gelatin contact prints
Date
April 2025
Turbulence explores ideas associated with identity, space/place, and inheritance. The work contains twelve silver gelatin contact prints of water in motion. The chaotic and unpredictable speed in which the water particles rapidly change was captured with a flash of light. The process revealed characteristics of turbulence visible in the formation of eddies, vortices, and swirls within the water flow. The disruption was a physical act that involved shaking the water to ensure irregular fluctuations and mixing, in contrast to laminar flow, in which water moves in smooth layers. In this turbulent flow, the speed of the water is continuously undergoing changes in both magnitude and direction. There are 18 in the series.
