Vastness

Vastness is a collage of time-based aerial photographs inspired by changes in climate and extreme weather’s effect on earth’s ecosystems. The border-less collage of images demonstrates the beauty of the “heavens”. The passing squall, on the horizon, is full of energy and moisture. From the side profile we can observe how many miles into the atmosphere this squall towers. It helps me to consider the possible consequences of disrupting the natural balance of nature. Viewed at a distance, Vastness becomes abstract; an example of humanities abstraction of nature. As we become more removed from our natural environments, there is a disconnection between what is “good” for our ecosystems and what is “bad” and what is already gone.
