I am a multimedia artist and for the past three years have focused on photography and its processes while studying, working and living in Massachusetts. One reason photography has been my primary medium is because of its unique ability to depict contrast and texture in a two dimensional format. The practice also brings to the foreground process over continuity, treating the photographic act as an event of becoming and un-becoming rather than a fixed outcome. Lastly, the material vulnerability allows me to embrace the impermanence and fragility of the process and the end product. I am able to witness the transformation of materials developing, fading and evolving in dialogue with their environment. I have been producing works that situate photographic materials within cycles of growth, decay, erosion, and transformation -- acknowledging the image as matter in flux and as an active participant in broader ecological systems and temporal processes. My work often focuses on bringing meaning to the mundane, bioregionalism, and our connections with our environments. 

 

Her practice utilizes 35mm film and aerial photography, lighting, sculpture and alternative methods of printing. She has also worked with photogrammetry in conjunction with a spatial analysis lab.
